The characters depicted by Karine Rougher in her drawings and paintings seem to come from a wild planet, or a strange dream. In a multitude of mysterious scenes, they appear in incantatory dances, monstrously joyous parades, shamanic rites, voluptuous or amorous postures… We’re looking at world in itself, sprung from nowhere, inhabited by a mischievous crowd, all dressed-up and adorned with magnificent masks. This world could be discovered at the Fotokino Studio, together with a 16 mm video installation made in collaboration with Valérie Pelet.
