With his pictures that seem to be stenciled, Blexbolex takes us on a stroll from scenes in rough jungles to picture books full of humanity. Each of his works proves his long-lasting attachment to books and an attention to how they work, that probably come from the years when he self-published his works or when his father would xerox covers of Tintin or Mickey to surprise and amuse him when waking him up in the morning.
Screen-printed by atelier Co-op (previously Orbis Pictus Club), the books from the series dedicated to the hinterland (l’arrière-pays) witness research and trial, especially in the choice of colors. These maculae—print run tests considered as first drafts—were lent by the publisher. They reveal the manufacturing process peculiar to screen printing, constructed by superposing different layers of colors.
