David Poullard’s exhibition “Tout Autour” invites the public to rediscover and question the inscriptions that surround them in the urban space on a daily basis.
To question the functions, codes, uses and structural singularities of these specific signs and texts: these words that we pass by every day with a familiar look, words that we see, that we read without thinking twice about, words that serve us, invite us, force us, words that mark the territory of our journeys, encounters and exchanges.
Carried out as an extension of his research, Ces lettres dans lesquelles on circule—developed from 2008 to 2013 as part of the Cnap research grant—a series of recent plastic experiments are were presented, each of which questioning, from different and complementary angles, the phenomena observed in the street: mobility of bodies, spatiality of reading, temporality of messages, lexical fields, materials, colors, forms and movements specific to inscriptions and their supports.
