Détails de l'évènement
Nathalie Du Pasquier moved to Milan in 1979, and became one of the founding members of the Memphis group, created by Ettore Sotsass. During the 1980’s, she created the design of numerous textiles, rugs, motifs, objects and furnitures, and when the group dissolved in 1987, she put painting at the heart of her work again. Whatever the medium, design or painting, she likes to put together architectural pieces made out of shapes and colours, using canvas, textile or volume. Still life paintings with calm beauty, electric patterns, household scenes and construction games are mixed together, like so many unlikely visual spaces to explore with one’s gaze.
When creating a pattern, Nathalie Du Pasquier works intuitively, by cutting, modeling and juxtaposing shapes. This is how she conceived the display of her exhibition at the Studio : from floor to ceiling, paper or cardboard drawings were assembled, combining simplicity and complexity, making us rediscover her refined and remarkable œuvre.
Milanese was published on this occasion, an artist book where recent works stood alongside fabrics designed in the 1980’s. 30 pages taking a stroll through 30 years of creation. After it was sold out, Fotokino published an augmented version in 2019, Sempre Milanese.
