Yann Kebbi is a voracious painter and illustrator who publishes his work in graphic novels and art books, receives commissions from the press and theaters, and creates etchings and monotypes… His drawings can usually be compared to cities: they render the power, chaos, vitality and formal complexity of these architectural structures mixed with humanity, where multicoloured figures stand out in their singularity.
While the original drawings of his last book Lontano, Fondation Kebbi (published by Actes Sud BD) were shown at the Galerie Martel in Paris, his exhibition Solo dodo at the Fotokino Studio revealed another side of his graphic explorations. A selection of monotypes, rough sketches, and etchings formed an uncertain and loose territory full of sleeping shapes, hazy landscapes, and ghostly creatures, inhabitants of another world. With this new body of work, Yann Kebbi delivered a blurred photo album, trying to capture the past and its extinguished moments.
