Jenni Rope is a painter, animation filmmaker, illustrator and creator of Napa, a gallery and publishing house which stands out in the Scandinavian graphic arts scene. “Excavations,” her first monographic exhibition in France, presented previously unpublished series of painted sculptures, films and paintings. In her work, shapes move from one medium to another, in a continuous metamorphosis which plays with colors and materials.

“I paint and shape a world where my forms are the only existing things. I use colors and cut-out fragments to bring out living bodies, things, plants, soft buildings and strange natural phenomena. In my paintings, I create abstract landscapes made of constructed shapes and natural elements, all coexisting peacefully. I like mixing different techniques such as acrylic paint, drawing, cutting and animation. When the element of a painting escapes from the canvas and continues its existence in a sculpture or an animated film, it only comes a little closer to reality.” Jenni Rope.
